India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India.
 
Yamunanagar is a city and a municipal council in Yamunanagar district in the Indian state of Haryana. It has an average elevation of 255 meters. As of 2001 India census India, Yamunanagar had a population of 189,587.
 
Yamunanagar was earlier known as Abdulahpur. Pre-independence, it was a small village with population concentrated around its Railway Station. After partition of India, many refugees from Punjab in Pakistan chose to make Yamunanagar their new home, and in the process adding to the culture of the town. The area where land was allocated to the refugees later developed into the model town area of Yamunanagar.
 
The main industries are stainless steel utensil making, Plywood board, Paper, Sugar, Industrial boilers and stone crushers . The city has a large paper factory of B.I.L.T owned by Thapar group of India. Prior to Indian independence the factory was owned by the British. Due to presence of plenty of water and good fertile soil main crops are Sugarcane, Rice, Wheat and garlic etc. One of the main sources of the income of farmers of yamunanagar is agri-forestry, in which they grow poplar and Eucalyptus besides conventional farming. Farmers of Yamunanagar are considered one of the best in India.
 
The city is one of the better developed cities of Haryana and has good educational and medical facilities. It has highest Literacy rate in Haryana as far as education is concerned. A canal of the river Yamuna flows on one side of the city. The river itself marks the boundary of the district with the state of Uttar Pradesh which borders the city on the eastern side of river Yamuna. The neighbouring city being Saharanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. Yamunanagar enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
