India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. One of the largest steel plants of the Steel Authority of India Limited is situated here. It is surrounded by a range of hills and encircled by rivers. It is situated in an area with the richest deposit of mineral wealth in Orissa. According to the census report of 2001 the population of Rourkela is 4,84,292 inhabitants. But the number of population as per the census record of 1921 was only 382 inhabitants. The tourism places in the city are Hanuman Vatika, the city houses the Hanuman Vatika, which is a major attraction for the locals and visitors to the town. Vedavyas, a place of natural beauty also considered a Tirtha, is situated 9 kilometers away on the confluence of the rivers Shankha, Koel and Saraswati.
