Raipur
India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India. Raipur pronunciation is the capital city of the state of Chhattisgarh, India. The population is 27,13,894 inhabitants in the year 2006. Raipur is the biggest city of central India and one of the richest city in India. The city is also the administrative headquarters of Raipur District. It was formerly a part of Madhya Pradesh, before the state of Chhattisgarh was formed on November 1, 2000. The city of Raipur is located near the centre of a large plain, sometimes referred as the rice bowl of India where hundreds of varieties of rice are grown. The Mahanadi River flows to the east of the city of Raipur and the southern side has dense forests. The Maikal Hills rise on the north west of Raipur, on the northwards, the land rises and merges with the Chota Nagpur Plateau, which extends northeast across Jharkhand state, India. On the south of Raipur lies the Baster Plateau. The places of interest in the city are Burha Talab, Dudhadari Temple, Mahant Ghasi Das Memorial Museum, Shaheed Smarak Complex, Hidayatullah National Law University.
