Osaka
Japan is an island country in East Asia. It is located in the Pacific Ocean it lies to the east of China, Korea, and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea in the south. Its capital and largest city is Tokyo. It has the world's 10th largest population. It is world's largest international creditor and is the sixth largest exporter and importer and is a member of the United Nations. And it is a leading nation in the fields of scientific research, technology, machinery, and medical research with the world's third largest budget for research and development. Osaka is the capital of Osaka region and the third-largest city in Japan, with a population of 2.7 million. It is located in the Kansai region of the main island of Honshu, at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay. Osaka is the historical commercial capital of Japan and is still one of Japan's major industrial centers and ports, the heart of the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto metropolitan area. In 2005, the population of the city was 2,640,097 and an area of 221.30 square kilometers. The area which now consists of Osaka city was initially called Naniwa, a name which still exists as the names of districts in central Osaka as Naniwa and Namba. Central Osaka is divided into two sections Kita and Minami. The central business district, including the courts and major banks, is mainly located in Yodoyabashi and Honmachi, between Kita and Minami.
