Kochi
Japan is an island country in East Asia. It is located in the Pacific Ocean it lies to the east of China, Korea, and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea in the south. Its capital and largest city is Tokyo. It has the world's 10th largest population. It is world's largest international creditor and is the sixth largest exporter and importer and is a member of the United Nations. And it is a leading nation in the fields of scientific research, technology, machinery, and medical research with the world's third largest budget for research and development. Kochi is the capital city of Kochi region on the Shikoku island of Japan. Kochi is the main city of the region with most of the population. In 2005, the population of the city was 335,341 and an area of 264.23 square kilometers. The city was incorporated on April 1, 1889, although a castle town had existed around the seat of the lords of Tosa Province since 1603. The castle, Kochi-jo, still exists, and is one of the main tourist attractions. Other places of interest are the Anpanman Museum, the Obiyamachi shopping arcade, Sunday Market Street and Harimaya-bashi, a bridge that served as a meeting spot for a Buddhist priest. Kochi's most famous festival is the Yosakoi which is held in August. Teams of dancers dance to a traditional and modern songs at various places in Kochi City.
