Kashiwa
Japan is an island country in East Asia. It is located in the Pacific Ocean it lies to the east of China, Korea, and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea in the south. Its capital and largest city is Tokyo. It has the world's 10th largest population. It is world's largest international creditor and is the sixth largest exporter and importer and is a member of the United Nations. Kashiwa is a municipality located in Chiba, Japan. In 2005, the population of the city was 382,957 and an area of 114.90 square kilometers. The city was founded on September 1, 1954, as a merger of townships in the area around the train station and current city center.
The centre of the city is dominated by the large multi-story station and the neighbouring Takashimaya department store. Through the Kashiwa International Relations Association, the city of Kashiwa maintains relationships with cities in China, Guam, and the continental United States. Since 1973, Kashiwa has been the sister city of the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California.
