Datia
India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India. The town of Datia is the administrative center of Datia District in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It was formerly the seat of the eponymous princely state in the British Raj. Datia is located near Gwalior and on the border with Uttar Pradesh. The old town is surrounded by a stone wall, enclosing handsome palaces and gardens; the 17th century palace of Bir Singh Deo is one of the finest examples of Hindu domestic architecture available in north India. Datia had previously been a vassal state of the Maratha Empire and came under the sway of the British by the provisions of the Treaty of Bassein. Datia is best known for the Pitambara Peeth, temple of the goddess Peetaambara Bagalamukhi. Datia, together with the rest of the Bundelkhand agency, became part of the new state of Vindhya Pradesh in 1950.
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Datia is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
