Marmagao

Mormugao is a city and a municipal council in South Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It is Goa’s main port. Its appearance in the 1980 film The Sea Wolves is one of its few global advertisements, but it has a charming past. In 2001, the population of the city was 97,085. Males constitute 53 percent of the population and females 47 percent. Mormugao has an average literacy rate of 75 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent: male literacy is 80 percent, and female literacy is 70 percent. In Mormugao, 11 percent of the population is under 6 years of age.
