Khammam
India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India. Khammam is a town in the Khammam District of India's Andhra Pradesh state. There is a festival held in khammam remembering the old name Stambhadri. The name of the town Khammam derives from the name of the hill of stambhadri later it became kambadri,kamba,khammam mettu,at last when it became the district headquarters, it is known to be Khammam. Khammam district has a lot of historical importance in Andhra Pradesh. As of 2001 India census India, Khammam had a population of 158,022. Males constitute 51 percent of the population and females 49 percent. Khammam has an average literacy rate of 72 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent, male literacy is 78 percent, and female literacy is 66 percent. In Khammam, 11 percent of the population is under 6 years of age.
