Junagadh
India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India. Junagadh is one of the famous cities in India. Junagadh is a city and a municipality in Junagadh district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It has an average elevation of 107 meters. The city of Junagadh is located at the foot of the Girnar hills. Literally translated, its name means Old Fort. Junagadh is a former princely state of British India. In the independence and partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, the 565 princely states were given a choice of whether to join India or Pakistan. As of 2001 India census India, Junagadh had a population of 168,686. Their events include Shivratri Mela, Girnar Prikrama etc. Shivratri Mela at the foot of Girnar mountain in month of Maha 9 starts on mela for next five days. Famous places in that city are Sakkarbag Zoo, Museum, Narsinh Mehta Choro, Darbar Hall Museum, Gayatri Mandir, Girnar the Mountain, Datar Hills, Willingdon Dam etc.
